EXPERIENCE
A Hospital in Northwest
June 2008 – Present Team Lead – Clinical Systems, Interfaces, and Reporting Teams.
Provides technical expertise and leadership to team members in systems analysis, design, build, and implementation of systems to support Hospital’s Radiology, Home Health, and Outpatient clinics. Responsible for CCL reporting and system interface development for enterprise integration solution consisting of roughly 65 interfaces
Significant Accomplishments:
Served as project manager for the implementation of several new systems expanding the breadth of system functionality available to Hospital’s stakeholders. New systems implemented: Hospital’s Sleep Center system (Sandman), a Home Care Physician’s Portal (McKesson), Business Intelligence (Theoris), and the implementation and redesign of Hospital’s external website
Built strong alliances between Hospital and the hospital’s affiliated physicians through the implementation of the Hospital HUB, an interface solution delivering radiology, laboratory, allergy, clinical notes, and scheduling information to community physicians with established relationships with Hospital’s patients. Solution has connected Hospital with over 15 clinics with many in queue.
Developed a custom built CCL application in Cerner delivering secure email notification of patient events to community providers. System provided greater level of connectivity to clinic physicians allowing them to know when and why their patients may have visited the hospital. Over 100 physicians have enrolled in the system to date.
June 2006 – June 2008 Sr. Systems Analyst
Developed system interfaces and provided support for enterprise integration solution consisting of roughly 50 interfaces. Created and managed the implementation of Hospital’s intranet for employees, and Physician Portal for doctors, a physician outreach solution used regularly by over 400 physicians.
Significant Accomplishments:
Expanded breadth of software offerings through the successful and timely implementation of several system interfaces. Swiftly garnered knowledge of interface development tools and Hospital’s interface environment to expand Hospital’s clinical applications, providing greater functionality for physicians, and care for patients.
Managed implementation, administration, and growth of Hospital’s SharePoint Physician Portal, a remote access solution providing access for physicians to an epicenter of key information and clinical applications. Collaborated with Hospital’s Medical Director on a ongoing basis to understand Physician goals and adjusted the portal solution accordingly. Met individually with Physicians to assist with system configuration, education, and troubleshooting.
Developed the Hospital Cerner Document Portal, a custom web application integrated with the Cerner database and web API’s to provide functional delivery of electronic dictation, lab, and radiology results to ancillary systems. Marketed application to Hospital’s clinics, meeting individually with physicians and clinic managers to customize functionality and ensure satisfaction.
June 2004 – June 2006 Systems Analyst
Supported and implemented process and system solutions for roughly sixty users in the Medical Records department. Proven experience analyzing business process to develop both process and system oriented solutions to satisfy business need.
Significant Accomplishments:
Developed expertise using Cerner’s CCL language. Joined a team of four that provided ad hoc reports for physicians and various other end users. Improved user productivity by meeting with users to analyze the business process and provide reports that best addressed the business need.
Rapidly and expansively learned the Cerner Profile product suite to became sole supporter of large Medical Records division. Assisted in training users and supporting physicians with several Medical Records applications like Physician Inbox, Chart Coding, and Deficiency Letters. Also learned and supported ancillary systems for transcription, document scanning, patient coding.
Improved billing efficiency and accuracy by assisting with implementation of new Meditech billing system. Learned new Meditech reporting tool and developed extracts allowing integration of Meditech data with external systems.
AIRBORNE EXPRESS, Northwest
June 2000 – June 2004 Application Analyst
Developed and maintained large distributed customer service applications used by more than one thousand agents nationwide. Solid experience and knowledge of software development life cycle in all areas including gathering user specifications, design, development, testing, and maintenance.
Significant Accomplishments:
Improved customer retention by becoming a crucial team member in the development of a new Airborne service for its most valuable customers. Developed roughly seventy percent of the application’s functionality, windows, and SQL interfaces.
Expanded a valuable customer service solution to handle international shipping. These improvements led to value added services for Airborne’s key global customers.
Rapidly learned FORTE, an object oriented language, similar to Java or C++ and became productive twice as fast as the average team developer.
Reduced Airborne driver errors by developing solutions that would highlight errors before customers were impacted. For example, if a driver forgot to obtain a required signature from customer, an alert would be triggered to the driver so the problem could be corrected.
Took sole responsibility for reporting applications within the Customer Service group. Worked with vendors and business units to decide on an appropriate solution that fit business needs. Led user training at call centers in Atlanta and Houston.
MCKAY CONSULTING, Northwest February 1999 Consultant
Worked with professor on a special project for his consulting company; met with Department of Licensing (D.O.L) managers and analyzed their strategic management processes.
Significant Accomplishments:
Applied statistics to help develop reports that resulted in changes in the structure of the business and price schemes.
Interviewed D.O.L managers at eight locations and compiled results.
Developed an interactive report that allowed state managers to run “what if” based on quality levels.
Observed layout and structures of processes and recommended improvements.
